To Family and Friends!

Just got a call from Emilee and it was a sad one....she had to put Spotty to sleep and even though it was time it is still very difficult.  What a great puppy he was...such a character and funny addition to her family several years ago.  She rescued him of course and he was up there in age at the time.  A few years ago, Mom and I went out to help Emilee celebrate her new home with an open house party.  Spotty was Mom's favorite and I think he felt the same about her always wanting to sit on her lap and sneaking a lick or two as well.  She will take good care of him in heaven now......I believe.

We hope that everyone has a fun and safe New Year and we are thrilled to be starting to move around starting on the 3rd heading over to Lake Pleasant and then on to Quartzsite, Arizona after that.
On or around January 20th our plan is to head into California....a first for me!

Pizza for dinner tonight~~~~~

Yummo!  Especially after a nice swim in the pool a few minutes ago....Hot tub is down so we were a bit disappointed with that but the pizza will make up for it.

Not much happening around here so not much to blog about....

Our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day~~~~~

We were certainly treated to a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner all prepared by Emilee.....

First course was a polenta cake topped with basil pesto, sauted portabello mushroom and garlic, then topped off with goat cheese....baked in the oven until golden brown.  Wowza they were a great start and unfortunately didn't get a picture of the finished product but here is one of Emilee starting the polenta.

For our main course she prepared parmesan crusted chicken breast, sauted asparagus and garlic bread.

 

 

And for dessert a first for Emilee....a lemon cake and it was perfect to finish our meal.

This morning was a treat sharing it with Emilee and her family.  Please enjoy............

With the gift giving and receiving completed, time for our meal.  I was responsible for our breakfast and I prepared two different quiches....in honor of my mother I made her Quiche Lorraine and the other was a Chicken Quiche (daughter Tammy's recipe).

 

 



 

Overall, we are all full and happy and now it is time for relaxation the rest of the day.

We are using our gift to each other right now.............a new washer and dryer for our rolling condo.

 

 

Tammy and Troy -  we plan to use the gift card for a nice dinner out.  Thank you.

 

Momlou and Bob - we haven't decided what we are going to use your gift for yet but something for the Fiver I am sure.  Thank you.

Dog watching the grill~~~~~

Oprah was the grill guard dog this evening!!  She is my grill dog for sure because every once in a while she gets a treat off the grill.....not till it's cooled off of course....and she knows it.

A Christmas Gift for the Fiver and us~~~~~

We decided to treat ourselves this year with a new washer and dryer for the Fiver.  They have been shipped and will arrive before we leave Desert Shadows RV.  Craig will install them himself which should be a piece of cake......his words.

The Fiver is already set up to accept the units with water hook up and electrical plugs.  We are looking forward to being able to doing our laundry at home here.

We have read reviews from others and for the most part folks are thrilled to have them in their rolling condos.....

We will be spending Christmas Eve with Emilee as she is preparing dinner for us.  We will stay the night and have Christmas morning with her too.  She asks me to make Grandma Hoschek's famous Quiche Lorraine and I found Mom's recipe so her wish is my command....:)

I am also making another Quiche recipe our first born beauty, Tammy brought home when she was in high school.  It is delish too.

Sometime in the next few days I will groom the poodles again.  They need it already but I did not body clip the last time so they are both pretty wild looking.

Other then that, Craig is prepping the wash closet for the washer and dryer.  Woohoo!

Truckless again~~~~~

For a short time today....the mechanic when checking over the work they had done the other day found a leak so we had to leave the truck and come back home for the afternoon.  Best they found it now then down the road some place.  Right?

Getting lists made for grocery shopping and more Christmas shopping too.  Other then that, we have been looking at putting a washer/dryer combo unit into our Fiver.  Our plan was to go to Camping World today and discuss with them.  But since the truck is in the shop we may have to do that another day this week.

Last night I rode with Em to her new clinic.  It is a nice private clinic that needs Emilee management care a bit.  She will start on that overhaul after the first of the year.  I am also going to her Holiday gathering with her co-workers Saturday so I am looking forward to meeting her people and the Doctor.

Tonight we are probably watching TV and having a quick supper depending on when we here about the truck today.

Oh I did make a reservation for a park in Quartzsite for the 16th of January.  Looking forward to that stay for a few days.  BIG RV etc. show.

Then in February for Craig's birthday we are heading to a place called Pismo Beach right on the Pacific.

Other then other travel plans I am still working on that........................

Funny that I have now realized being retired a person really does lose track of time.  I thought today was going to be Thursday which Emilee laughed at last night when she stopped for supper.  I had texted her early in the day to ask about stopping and she called me on her way home and had decided to head on home as she had a tiring day.  Until she asked what I had made.... ;)  Tuna noodle casserole... "I'll be right there" she said!  She hadn't had that for a long time and neither had we.  There are no leftovers.  Heehee!

Today~~~~went for another 2 miler with the girls.  Now I plan to sit out in the sun for a bit because we are hitting 70's for temps this week and next will be close to the 80's.  We love Arizona....and will be heading off after the first of the year to explore the west side of the state and then head into California as well.

Any nice places to stop from other travelers would be greatly appreciated to know.  Thanks.

Shopping day and laundry day~~~~~

Thanks honey for taking on the laundry today!

Emilee and I went shopping all day and it is really exhausting.  Heehee!  We also had a wonderful lunch as well.

Sorry it has been so long since I have blogged but I had run out of data.  Not too much has been going on around here.  Oh except we finally had the truck taken in for a good look at the damage done by the large rock that bent the wheel and low and behold both brake rotors are cracked so we are without a vehicle for a few days.  This is a safety issue so we are glad to be having it fixed.

The weather has been gorgeous with us starting to hit the 70's again.  Love it!

Another 2 mile run in this morning~~~~~

Now Craig is off for his bike ride....

Yesterday I made chocolate chip cookies and this morning I made snickerdoodles.

Emilee's furnace went out and Craig was unable to fix it yesterday so this morning a furnace person came and thankfully it was not a real expensive fix....sooo that is taken care of and ready for the cooler weather approaching our area for the next few days.  Plus the winter temps start in December through January here in Arizona if you call 40's cold.  We plan to head over to Yuma, Arizona after the first of the year to hopefully find warmer temps.

After work last night Em stopped for a space heater and also had supper with us.  I made a rustic shepherds pie...and she and Craig loved it.  I took a picture but I didn't have the memory card in the camera so no picture.

Other then that, we have been enjoying our home here at Desert Shadows Resort.

Tonight we are heading to Emilee's and then out to dinner at Hula's.  It is a very neat place we went to last year and I am looking forward to our night.  Check it out below:

Pretty Poodles and a Belated Birthday Supper~~~~~

We have had a full day today....

After our walk this morning, Craig detailed the truck interior.  Looks great!

After he left to go for his bike ride, I started bathing the girls.  After they had dried I decided to start grooming them.  I did not do a before picture but believe me they were rag a muffins.

Our Day of Thanks~~~~~

Was just that.....spent with Craig's family and a few friends thrown in for good measure in beautiful Arizona.  The weather was a perfect "10" as you will see from the pictures.

The food was excellent....thanks to Cindy and all who contributed.  This is the first Thanksgiving that I did not cook anything.  It was kinda nice.

I am thankful for my first born Tammy and her hubby Troy, grandkids Blaise, Brennon and Taylor, and my brothers, Mike, Tom, Tim and Scott and their beautiful families for wishing us a grand day as we wished the same for them.  It certainly wasn't quite the same without getting together with them at Mom's but we are all making new memories this year.
